Acknowledgements
Since its inception in 1995, the Global Media Monitoring Project has relied upon the commitment and enthusiasm of hundreds of volunteers across the world. Therefore we are first and foremost thankful to all those monitors who have been involved in the Global Media Monitoring Project over the past ten years.
We are also thankful to the following individuals and organisations who have made both GMMP 2005 and Who Makes the News? Three Weeks of Global Action on Gender and the Media possible:
Margaret Gallagher, the consultant for GMMP 2000 and 2005 and the brilliant author of the global GMMP 2005 report Who Makes the News?
The Media Monitoring Project (MMP), South Africa, and in particular William Bird, member of the GMMP 2005 planning committee and data analyst for crunching an unbelievable amount of data from around the world!
The Illumicom team and in particular Sheila George for helping us to communicate ourselves better and making our dream everyday a little more real.
The VisionWT team and in particular Tony, James and Helen for real partnership and delivering both on a wonderful website and a striking global GMMP 2005 report, Who Makes the News? (and for staying cool and calm throughout it all!)
Alejandra Davidziuk, our permanently awake Who Makes the News? campaign web editor.
All the volunteers and interns that have helped over the past two years in particular Lindiwe Sola, Stefania Milan, and Eileen Horngren. Thanks also to Adriana Virgilio for translation of the media monitoring methodology into Spanish and to the Universidade Metodista de São Paulo for translation of the media monitoring methodology into Portuguese.
Thanks also to WACC colleagues and members as well as to the GMMP 2005 Steering Committee: Terry Hermano (Philippines), Dennis Smith (Guatemala), Midori Suzuki (Japan), Leela Rao (India), Judith Smith (South Africa), Achowah Umenei (Cameroon), Dafna Lemish (Israel), Melanie Cishecki (Canada) and Frieda Saeys (Belgium).
